The
Earth's Shadow - South African Astronomical
Observatory (SAAO), Sutherland . Scroll
along sideways to see this 180º panorama taken by Willie
Koorts in June 2006. Taken
in the clear air of the Northern Cape it shows the purple
dark shadow of Earth cast
into the atmosphere and topped by the pink Belt of Venus.
The dome at left houses the 11m South African Large Telescope
(SALT).
